Seriously...Just Run The Test
Hi everyone!
Let's have a friendly little competition. When it comes to spyware and other stuff, I'd like to see who has the most on their PC -- and the least.
In light of the latest news (see the post about the HomeLand Security Warning) I thought it appropriate to issue a challenge to let people prove to themselves (and to everyone else) that they are as safe as they want to be.
The industry leader in Managed PC Security for Home and Small Business, INVISUS Direct, has a free PC Test that you can run on your PC and get the results. I would love to see the results of your scans in your comments to this post.
Just Do The Test
Let's see who has the cleanest PC, and who has the most cluttered!
Today I am using a PC that is not covered by the INVISUS service, and I am running the test on it right now. We bought it at a garage sale this summer and it has been a PC we set up in the basement for the kids to use to play games.
Here are the results:
6 Infected Spyware Files: 3 of which were of Elevated status. The test program says: "This is a high risk threat and should be removed or quarantined as to prevent harm to your computer or your privacy."
9 Registry Infections: One is ranked as a High Threat, and is a real joy to find on the PC we've set aside for the kids to use:
15 Spyware Cookies. All these are Low threat.
So all in all, not a desperate situation, but I am not pleased with has has made a home on this computer!

Oh goody...and this was the computer the kids used downstairs. Of course it didn't have an Internet connection down there, but isn't that just great to know what's been on the PC this whole time? I am so thrilled! (I hope you can read into this all the sarcasm and irony in which is was written).Type: Porn Dialer
